Big Freeze Day

Big Freeze Day

Wynnum Juniors is proud to announce the return of Big Freeze Day on Saturday, 1st June at BMD Kougari Oval. This annual community event is part of the broader FightMND campaign, which raises awareness and vital funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research and support services.

Big Freeze Day is inspired by the nationally recognised Big Freeze initiative led by FightMND, founded by AFL great Neale Daniher. The campaign shines a spotlight on the devastating impact of MND - a progressive neurological condition that affects the nerve cells controlling muscles, leading to gradual loss of movement, speech, and eventually the ability to breathe. With no known cure, funding for research and support is critical.

The event brings together the local community in a family-friendly day filled with fun and purpose.

The day will feature:

  • Giant inflatable ice slides
  • A selection of  food trucks serving local favourites
  • Wynnum Juniors and Big Freeze merchandise available for purchase
  • Live entertainment and music
  • Activities and games for all ages

Community members will also have the opportunity to take part in the signature Big Freeze tradition - being dunked in icy water to raise funds and show support for those battling the disease.

Everyone is encouraged to wear blue on the day, symbolising solidarity with those affected by MND and helping to raise awareness across the club and wider community.

Whether you're a regular at the club or new to Wynnum Juniors, Big Freeze Day is a fantastic opportunity to get involved, support an important cause, and enjoy a day of connection and community spirit. For more information about FightMND, visit fightmnd.org.au.
